Terms of Business and Therapeutic Contract
Number of Sessions
We aim to help and support our clients in overcoming any issues, and in meeting their needs, in as few consultations as possible. We do not charge in advance for a set number of consultations, or a course of treatment. We endeavour to help clients feel better when they leave the first consultation, to have homework tasks or activities to complete, and to continue to progress towards their goals between each session. If a client is not progressing we will endeavour to find an alternative and more suitable therapist and/or therapeutic approach.
Outcome Measures
We use various measures to gauge each client’s progress and response to treatment. If clients are happy to do so they may be asked to complete a brief anonymised questionnaire, which is designed to help the therapist understand the client’s needs, how best to help them, and to evaluate treatments and outcomes.
Confidentiality – General Data Protection Regulations
Your personal information will be kept in accordance with the relevant Data Protection legislation in the UK on the basis that you have given your consent to information about you being held by the therapist, which means that they will:
use your contact details only to get in touch with you about matters relating to your therapy, such as appointments, and to provide helpful information, where appropriate, unless you have given your explicit consent for the therapist to contact you for other purposes.
retain notes of your treatment for a period of seven years, in accordance with regulatory, professional and insurance requirements, and will take steps to ensure the security of the record.
not share your personal information with other individuals or organisations, except where they have reason to believe you or others to be at risk, or where there is a legal duty to disclose it, or as otherwise specified, if applicable.
provide you with free access to the information they hold about you, should you wish.
you agree that all clinical information shared with the therapist will remain confidential within the service except where the therapist believes there may be a risk of harm to you or to others, or where there is a legal duty of disclosure.
you agree that your therapist has case supervision with their supervisor where a broad outline of your case may be discussed as a part of the supervisory process, and that no identifying details will be revealed.
Scale of Charges
Each consultation, lasting approximately an hour will be charged at £130 if the fee is paid in full at the time of, or prior to, the consultation.
Weekend and evening (after 6.00pm) charges are £155 per consultation.
Couple counselling is £170 per consultation.
Preparation of reports for court, social workers, safeguarders etc. will be charged at £130 per hour.
Payment Methods
We accept credit and debit cards (except Amex or Diners), cheque or cash. If it is convenient for the client, payment online may be made on the day of consultation.
Healthcare Insurance
Some clients have coverage from a healthcare insurer. We are unable to communicate directly with insurers, and we do not have an electronic claims system in place. It is the client’s responsibility to ascertain whether or not their insurance provider covers psychological talking therapies, to pay their fees at the time of consultation, and to then claim from their insurer, where possible. We will do our utmost to facilitate that claim.
Cancellation Policy
24 hours notice of cancellation by telephone or email is normally required. If another client cannot be found to fill that appointment a late cancellation fee of £100 will be payable.
No Show Policy
Where an appointment is arranged and agreed, and a client does not attend that appointment, the consultation fee will be payable in full, together with the administration fee of £15.
Protection of Client and Therapist
It is recognised that some clients may be particularly vulnerable, especially young people. We reserve the right to make an audio recording of the consultations, if deemed appropriate, for the protection of both client and therapist.
Jurisdiction
It is recognised that the therapist and/or client may be away from their home base, or regular place of business for one or more consultations. For the purposes of this agreement and terms and conditions the consultation is deemed to have taken place in the jurisdiction of England. Any dispute between the parties shall be resolved through mediation in the first instance.
Comments or Concerns
If any client has comments or concerns, or even a complaint, we ask them to bring it to the attention of the practice by writing to us at the address on the contact page on this web site or by emailing us at reception@grove-clinic.com.
